Pro Bono

Defending Liberty, Protecting Justice . . .

These are the guiding principles of the American Bar Association.

Burns White attorneys are privileged to be members of the Bar and are steered by these values in our daily practice of law. These core beliefs also help us support our communities by providing legal assistance to individuals and organizations lacking the resources to retain attorneys.

Central to the overall mission of Burns White, our Pro Bono committee, led by Member John Steidle, partners with community-based organizations in need of legal representation and matches those needs with the interests of attorneys in the Firm. From the first day attorneys start at Burns White, we encourage them to become active members of the community and devote a percentage of their time to pro bono representation. We believe that building strong ties in our communities enriches our lives and the lives we touch.

Rich in tradition with roots in our communities, Burns White is a proud member of the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership and a participant in the McKees Rocks Clinic, which offers free legal assistance to low-income individuals in the McKees Rocks Stowe Township (Sto-Rox) area. The Firm also supports the Wills for Heroes Program, which provides free estate planning documents for first responders such as EMT's, policemen and firefighters.

The challenge is great, but we are committed to helping to improve the lives of others in the communities in which we live and work.
